So I've been working on my skills, lately. Trying to improve. There are things that I normally just "Bang out" that I'm looking at and seeing how I can improve them. Particularly my use of color. I'm taking the time to do a COLOR SKETCH! And I'm beginning to understand why my teachers were always so keen on them.
Anyway, I just wanted to say a quick thing about finishing strong. I have a habit of getting so excited for the finished product, I rush to the end. At the end of the day, I kind of give myself artistic blue balls. I look a toe there, or a boob here, and say to myself, "man, if I had just fixed that when it happened, this piece would be better!" Well, I'm trying very hard to get rid of all the "shouldas, couldas, and wouldas"!
So when you guys are working on something big, and you feel like you're stumbling a little bit, you might feel the temptation you push blindly ahead (like me) hoping it'll work out by the time you're flattening the thing in Photoshop and Saving for Web. BUT DON'T DO IT! Take a breath and look at your work objectively. Suck it up and eliminate the weak elements, even if it's tedious.
You wanna be The Last Airbender, rather than Legend of Kora, you know?
